Your car is almost there. Delivery day is usually quick and easy, but knowing what to expect helps make sure everything goes smoothly and your records are in order.
Before the truck arrives
- Keep your phone on. The driver will usually call ahead as they get close.
- Have your copy of the pickup inspection report handy.
- Make sure you, or someone you’ve designated, can be there to receive the car.
- Think about where a large truck can safely stop. If your street is narrow, a nearby parking lot may work better.
Inspect the car before you sign
This is the most important step. Walk around the car with the driver and compare its condition to the pickup inspection report. Try to do it in good light. Look at the body, bumpers, wheels, glass and roof.
If you notice anything new, point it out and make sure it’s written on the delivery report before you sign. Take photos too. Learn more about the bill of lading and condition reports.
After you sign
- Check that the car starts and that the dashboard doesn’t show new warning lights.
- Keep your copy of the signed delivery paperwork.
- If you’re new to the area, remember to update registration and insurance.
If something isn’t right
Note it on the paperwork at delivery, photograph it and contact us promptly. Clear documentation from pickup and delivery makes any follow-up much simpler.
